1. How do you install archiso-live?

Installer is under menu->system tools-> Install Arch Linux.

NOTE: Use gparted to setup partitions. DON’T DO IT THOUGH INSTALLER. This is because the installer can screw up using gparted though it from what some users told me. You can skip to step ‘Select Install Partitions’ after from you format your drive though gparted.

2. Why doesn’t it work in Virtualbox?

You have to use failsafe/vbox mode in order for it to work. This is because my videoconfig script ends up using vga driver instead of vesa. It looks for very other drive to use instead of vesa for some reason. I think its mostly cause Virtualbox doesn’t do well with x-sever 1.5 and up.

3. I keep getting this error message “Error opening display” message. Is this a bad thing?

No. I get it all the time and X sever still gets up. I don’t know why its doing it but i don’t think its a bug.

NOTE: If you use vmware then this error will be bad. You have to use virtualbox in failsafe mode to get X to work. Sorry.

4.  How do i install it on to a USB stick?

Use unetbootin. In shell type in ‘sudo unetbootin’.  You have to have the iso file in order to install it on usb stick. You also have to mount the usb stick too.

5. Why is my usb stick mounted read-only?

If your usb stick is format ext2 or ext3 or whatever linux filesystem then it will be read-only cause your a user.  If its fat32 then it should be writable. If not then in shell type ‘sudo pcmanfm’ (without single quote). You should be able to write to usb stick now.

  1. Hi –

I really like your LiveCD. However, I have not been able to install it on a hard drive(s). As you suggested above, I did all the partitioning outside of the installer. I want to install the distro over two hard drives because of my interest in saving multimedia content. When the installation gets to the create/save fstab step, I get the following error messages:

  8. Hi, How are you dude, i’m from Venezuela, and i have a request, men i need to know how to make packages for the Archiso-live, i mean if i wanna make a especific package, how i do it?, it’s possible to insert the new package to a .iso, can i mount the .iso file and insert to it? …
I’m sorry for my english (lol)…

  9. If there’s a posibilitie to chat whit you, to change opinions ’bout archiso-live scripst, i’ve been developmnet a system that can create a archiso-live .iso an a have some questions for you dude…

  10. Man, i don’t see any response from you, what are you oing!!! jejeje lol i’m just jokin’ but i have another question how did i make a module to the iso i mean only create modules not the archiso-live.iso complete only makes the modules and make them rady to work in a iso live cd?

    • @ Yerffrey
I used scripts called arch2lzm and dir2lzma for making modules out of arch packages and folders. I hope this helps.

  11. Already used that and i copy the new module to “modules folder” and it doesn’t load at the init of the .iso, need to create the kernel again for that, or anything else?

    • @Yerffrey
If your adding newer kernel modules packages to my archiso-live then you going to have to rebuild the iso. I don’t support archiso-live anymore so your going to have do that on your own now. I sadly don’t rebuild the exact commands for build it but i think it was with ./build script in profile/archiso-live. Aufs is not in the archlinux anymore so you will have to add support for that on your own. I was able to add my custom repos on my custom pacman.conf file in profle.

BACKUP EVERYTHING BEFORE BUILDING ISO. It may hose your system if you don’t do it right. You going to be on your own so your mostly likely going to have learn the code when you have problems. I’m sorry I can’t be of anymore help.

Here is a link to my build scripts:

      Best of luck.

  12. Thanks a lot dude i understand what you has said, rebuild the iso is simple in a diffrrent point of view, i need only the script that build the .iso copy the working directory in a safe place then make the iso whit that directory… well is my opinion i’ll probe it …ty
