Archiso-live 20090112 Release

The newer archiso-live will be able to support slax linux-live scripts. This cause i made it boot into slax initrd has squashfs module use the normal aufs+tmpfs method.

Changes since last release:

* Made slax module to boot livecd like slax. This makes the system more compatable with slax scripts without me rewriting them. This also makes slax scripts work with archlinux kernel since it normally would need stuff build in kernel that is not in archlinux kernel.

* Update klibc to 1.5.15 in testing.

* Bootusb boot opiton is not need to boot archiso-live off usb stick anymore. This is auto-detected now.

Here is the iso, md5, and modules package list.

root password is ArchLinux

arch password is arch

Iso is updated has of 20090112 9:30PM EST as far has i know.

  1. Awesome distro! Are you planning to have the hard drive installation in any near future????

    • The gui hard drive installer is alright there. Its under system-tools if you want to install it. It would be best to use gparted directly then though gui since it could cause problems with gparted for some reason.

  2. Thanks!!! I will try it tonight!

  3. Thank you for this amazing job, Godane.

I am following your project since the good old Zenwalk times. It took me a lot of time to understand that the building of the overlay is very important for the whole actual lzma/squashfs arch system.

I also tried to study your scripts in detail, but because of lack of knowledge, I did not get very far…

I have to remark: In your last ISO, the unsquasfs and therefore lzm2dir utilities are broken 😦 Copying the version of slax(!) to sbin or bin solved the problem.

Please apologize my newbie question: how do I get your script mkarch to work correctly (which I downloaded succesfully with git)? Would you kindly bring enough patience to explain it to me in a few short lines? Thank you in advance!!!

As far as concerning your new blog: do you mean the linux live scripts will be adapted to work together with larch5 and your own system archlive? That would be great, indead 🙂

Once again, Godane, I do apreciate your work very intensively, may I help you? (I would for example translate possible documentation into german, french or spanish, for free, of course!).

You are offering us a totaly new point of view about archlinux and lzma, and also about a new approach to linux live systems in general.

Thank you for all your great work and the new, fresh ideas you are constantly bringing to the whole linux internet community!!

    Keep going this way,
