Archiso-live 20090217 Release

Changes since last relelase:

* Using isohybrid so iso can be put on usb the same way its done for archlinux usb images. Wiki page is here.

* Kde was remove cause of space reason. There are to many deps that are too big for me to put kde in livecd now. Sorry.

* Added my own build of xampp-linux 1.7 package. This is so you can setup a server now.

* Updated copy2ram menu option to be like a mini version of archiso-live so its not loading all modules into ram. It will only load about half the modules into ram.

* Added a packagediff like jensp does for his releases.

* Everything is updated has of 2009-02-17 at 6:00PM EST.

  1. Seriously, no KDE? Couldn’t you have left out things that don’t make sense on a live CD anyway, like mysql, strigi+java-runtime, etc.?

    However that may be, thanks for your excellent work!

    • @ mutlu
      strigi is a dep of kdelibs. mysql is a dep of akonadi. Akonadi a dep of kdepimlibs. And kdepimlibs is a dep of kdebase-workspace. You see where i’m going with this. I can’t left out these things cause there need for kde to work.

      @smartboy
      its ‘mkarchiso -f all .working archiso-live.iso’. Thats how you get to work. Make sure your using the one from my github. Its best to just use isolinux (default) boot option.

  2. mkarchiso still doesn’t work for me. Each time I run (as root) “mkarchiso iso ./.work ./maryanlinux-alpah1.iso”, I get:
    No bootloader specified. Use the -p flag to specify
    Supported Bootloaders:
    grub
    grub-gfx
    syslinux”
    Yet, when I run (as root) “mkarchiso iso -p grub ./.work ./maryanlinux-alpah1.iso”, it says:
    mkarchiso : Configuration Settings
    working directory: -p
    image name: grub
    find: unknown predicate `-p’
    ====> Making bootable image
    Error: ‘-p/iso’ doesn’t exist. What did you do?!
    Seems like this script’s flags aren’t configured correctly. :-S

  3. I’m using the latest from your GIT. When I try to run the command you posted, I get “invalid command ‘all'”. :(

  4. Ok, I fixed it by modifying line 64 of the script to read:
    iso) PKGLIST=”${2}”; work_dir=”${3}”; imgname=”${4}” ;;
    Now I get a different error. But it now it doesn’t even generate the ISO. It just takes the stuff from the working directory and packages it into an ISO.

    • Are you build iso in profile folder? If your not then thats why it was not working. You have to be in configs/archiso-live folder for mkarchiso to work. Please use my script and not your modified one.

  5. Thanks you, thanks you, thanks you!!!

  6. Nice work I enjoyed this version of the Live-CD :)

  7. Thanks a lot. That’s very useful stuff.
    I am newbie in Archlinux, and I was also thinking about some similar project. I have already read the larch documentation and wanted to try it at practice. Your livearch helped me a lot.
    I will try to make my own LiveCD.

    Post-Scriptum: If I have any questions, can I contact you?
